I have recently secured project funding through the JISC to develop, deliver and evaluate a new module as part of our Post-Graduate Certificate Education in Higher Education (PGCertHE). This will focus on helping staff to use the digital resources and tools that JISC have created in order to enhance the quality of their teaching and the quality of student learning. As part of the project (there are 19 projects in all across the UK) we are required to maintain a blog, and this is it.
How I intend to use this blog
I aim to use the blog largely as a reflective tool in order to stand back from the actual routines and practicalities of developing/delivering this new module, in order to gain some distance and perspective on what is happening here. I am especially eager to chart my own learning processes through this module and hope the blog will serve as one point of reference for this. I am also undertaking a PhD at the University of Hull which is focused on the issues facing staff in Higher Education when they use and incorporate digital resources into their teaching. I am only in the first year of this research but I am keen to use my experiences in this project as the basis of some empirical research for the PhD itself. Hence the importance of reflecting on the progress of the project as it develops. In the next posting I will describe my initial impressions of the introductory meeting which took place in Birmingham on 20th February 2008
